C'è questa cosa che si chiama field assistant. In italia è poco diffusa per il motivo che è una cosa buona per far crescere gli studenti universitari. Non sia mai. Per fortuna all'estero di opportunità del genere ce ne sono parecchie. Vi segnalo l'ultima che mi è capitata sotto gli occhi e che ha a che fare con uno studio sui ciclidi del Tanganica (shoreline dello Zambia):

The project investigates the influences of helping behavior on fitnessprospects and life-history in the highly social, cooperatively breedingcichlid Neolamprologus pulcher (diving depth: 8-12m). It is part ofa long term project which has been launched in 2009 attempting tofollow permanently marked individuals over several years.  The fieldassistant will carry out behavioral observations under water usingPsion PDAs and Observer software of marked fish in their natural group.We search a field assistant for a diving expedition of the Universityof Bern in autumn 2011. The field work will last 3 months and takesplace near Mpulungu, Zambia, starting end of August. Candidates musthold a SCUBA diving certificate (PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent),should have diving experience and need to have experience in behavioralobservations. Experience with fish is considered an asset and a highdegree of motivation is needed as field assistants will be workingindependently.  The field team will have 7 members and support fromlocal authorities.
Accommodation at the field site is remote and very basic, butbeautifully located on the shore of Lake Tanganyika. Fieldwork anddiving is physically demanding. All expenses for travel, accommodationand medical precaution are covered, but no salary can be paid.

Brevetto SCUBA Open (insomma quello base), inglese, motivazioni e salute fisica. Vi pagano anche il viaggio (spesso non lo fanno), la copertura sanitaria e l'alloggio. Se avete tre mesi "morti" (post-maturità, neolaureati o con gli esami in ordine) e vi gusta l'idea, mandate mail a spron battuto che lavorare con i ciclidi, da un punto di vista scientifico, è una grande opportunità (e se poi fate studi universitari specifici fa anche curriculum). Se non si era capito: non è una vacanza e non vi pagano.
